Hard to believe that June is half over! We hope that everyone is out there enjoying your horses and having a great summer.
New to our show schedule this year will be a selection of Jack Pot Classes. At the June show there will be two All Breed Jackpot classes, Walk Trot Western Pleasure and Open Trail. This will be a fun way to compete for some extra cash. The pay out for the classes will go directly to the exhibitors this year. For classes where the entries are 5 or less the first place horse gets all, 6 to 10 entries will pay 60% to first place and 40% to second and 11 or more entries will have a three tiered pay back with first place getting 60 %, 2nd place getting 30% and 3rd place getting 10%.
The May Show that we did in conjunction with the New Mexico Quarter Horse Association went very well. It was nice to be able to join forces with another club and offer one more show to the years schedule. It might be that we will be seeing more of that type of venue as clubs find it more affordable to put shows on together. We all know how expensive it is to rent facilities, expecially at the Fair Grounds.
Our second schedule annual membership meeting is scheduled for Wednesday July 16th at the JBs on Eubank and I40. As required by our by laws formal announcements/invitations will be mailed to all current members.
Our awards committee promises to come up with some very nice year end awards this year including All Breed Awards! Remember that in order to be eligible for year end you must be a NMPHC member and show in three of our scheduled shows in 2008. This goes for All Breed Year end awards as well. You don't need to be a member to qualify for weekend All Breed awards but you do for year end. Full rules for Paint and All breed are posted on the Show Rules Page of this web site.
This year we are having a drawing for three great prizes...a sterling silver neck collar with two kissing horses (same one as last year guys...here's your second chance to win one) donated by sponsor Mati Jewelers, a hot air balloon ride for one donated by Rainbow Ryders Hot Air balloons and Springtime Horse Calm supplements! Get your tickets purchased at the next show; the drawing will be held at the July Show.
